I'm struggling to make a bar that is hard enough yet also mild enough. In order to keep the cleansing value low and mild i'm limiting my use of coconut oil to max 18-20% but i'm finding this make my soap too soft. Any advice? I'm also using olive oil, palm oil, avocado oil, castor oil and almond oil - is that too many liquid oils?

Well, high OO soaps can start out soft, but after a good cure will be rock hard. What percentage of OO are you using? Taking a water discount? How much? How long are you curing before testing?

Palm should help make a hard bar of mild soap. Olive oil may make a bar that is softer at first, but with time the soap should get harder. Jojoba helps to promote a stable lather and is good at conditioning skin. It is supposed to be good for sensitive skin. I think that Shea butter will also help to make a hard bar.

Almond and avocado are both soft oils. I would leave them out, reformulate your recipe and go with a higher superfat. Or make a pure castille.
