It's been years but I experienced lye pockets in a 100% lard batch the other day. I consulted my troubleshooting info. and found out a couple of things including the batch could have lost too much heat during my stirring. The recipe is sound as I made a couple of batches a couple weeks ago. I cut it up, cooked it and remolded. Going to used it simply for laundry soap anyway. (Boy, do I hate the look of rebatched soap). Anywho . . . since I have not dealt with lye pockets in a while and my research is like 10 years old (literally) thought I'd check here to make sure the 4-1-1 I am working with is accurate.

Anybody had this experience before?

TIA,

L

I'm really sorry you ended up with that! Usually if you end up with lye pockets it's because you got a false trace or separation.

Lindy, thanks for stepping up and responding. It is really encouraging when someone does. :D
