Morning all! I read, somewhere on the forums, that in order to prevent air bubbles when bottling your lotions, you should pour while it is still warm. Is it okay to heat a lotion base to the point of it being warm enough to pour? Will this affect the preservatives? Thanks! :D

Most preservatives can not withstand very much heat. So, I'd go by the manufacturers directions on heating.
You can use a big syringe to fill your bottles without many air bubbles.

It's a pain but the best way I have found to fill lotion bottles is with the heavy duty frosting bags that cake makers use. I use disposable ones, a new one for each scent. It's waste, yes. However, I have had such huge problems pouring lotion warm into bottles....the fragrances and essential oils will not stay emulsified when the mixture is warm and they settle on the top of the lotion. Not good. When the lotion is cool I stir in the fragrance/EO, pour the lotion into the piping bag, and fill. Anyone have better ideas?

I use a ziploc baggie for mine. Add the base, add the FO, sit and watch TV while squishing the bag to make sure all the FO is mixed in good. Snip a corner of the end off and squeeze into the bottle. I think the heat from my hands warms it up a bit so it makes it easier to squeeze. Been doin this a while and still haven't mastered it to not get any on ME yet... LOL Still workin on that though!!!

same, I don't use a base but I make my own and I use the baggie. However, if there were a pump made for the container your lotion comes in, I would imagine that to be the best option.

That is for when you are making your lotion from scratch. I would not heat and melt a base. I would use the ziplock bag method.

I agree. Before I made my own, I used a ziploc bag and snipped a small hole in one corner.
