do any of you purchase citric acid, clays, and other bath fizzy ingredients locally?

i'm desperately trying to find a place but i don't know where i'd get it from. what kind of stores do you find your ingredients from? or is ordering online generally the best way?

honestly, i just hate paying for shipping.

If you purchase local, you will probably pay retail prices. If you purchase online you will probaby pay wholesale prices, so wholesale prices plus shipping is still generally lower than retail.

Where do you live? There may be a supplier near you.

i'm from kansas, in a super small town. the biggest city near me is like an hour and a half away, i'm thinking (sadly) that im gonna end up having to purchase everything online just because there's nothing like that around here - that i know of.

Citric acid is $3 per pound at Camden Grey; 5 lbs is $12.50. CG has flat rate shipping of 8.95 for packages weighing less than 4 lbs. They are located in Florida.

Wholesale Supplies Plus also has citric acid but I can't remember the price. Shipping is "free" there, meaning it's embedded in the price already.

Locally I paid $3.50 for a four ounce container because I needed some in a hurry. On-line is probably the way to go.

I buy local for my citric acid local because with shipping it still saves me $2 and well I'm a cheapo lol
I buy my kaolin and other clay at Monterey Bay Spice Company and they are semi-local i still need to have it shipped but I know the quality is good and shipping is reasonable

Where I live now our local health food store is not that big. They do have a few things that I can get one is citric acid. It is 3.09 per pound. Some stuff they dont' have and I will have to find a place to purchase it online.
I use to make bath products 10 years ago and lived in a town where they had several salt choices, clays, herbs. That was a great price. Now I am getting back into it and my town where i live now does not have allot of choices.

I have found a few online companies that don't charge shipping. One that i can think of right off the top of my head was Saltworks. HTH

thank you all so much!

i did a couple hours of searching and comparing and i'm thinking Coastal Scents is cheapest for what i need - a 10lb bag is $2.79 per lb (27.95) which is about the cheapest ive found it and if u order $50 or more there, shipping is free (the crappy 4/5 day shipping from fedex) but it's still free lol
