Will this recipie work, I have searched but didnt come up with answers.....any tips to make my first batch a success ?....also do I need to crock pot it ? or do I just stick blend it like CP?

Your post comes in here at 11:30pm Eastern and you're worrying about replies already 4 hours later. Just hang in there and replies will come :) I'm sure there are folks here that have more and better info then me since I'm just starting out but here's what I see.

I haven't made a batch yet but I've started reading through material on it and have ordered supplies to start making it. One thing I see off the top will only matter if you want clear or see through liquid soap is the PO. It can cause cloudiness.

If you don't have it yet pick up Making Natural Liquid Soap http://www.amazon.com/dp/1580172431/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I'm finding it very informative.

Hello! Not as many people make liquid soap so these posts get passed by a little bit :(
If you are new I like the book Laura suggested or here are some sites.

I have only done mine in a crock pot. It has to be cooked into a paste by heat. So if you don't have a crock pot I would go buy a cheapie used one.

If you don't care about the soap being clear you can use whatever oils you want. I did not care and made my first two batches with whatever and I even superfatted it. Now I am on to attempting a clear soap.

Your first recipe is probably really close to my first one that I made. I think it will be fine for a first recipe.

I am no expert having only made a few batches myself but if you run into problems feel free to PM me! I will do my best to help!

I would also recommend David Fisher's About.com website. It has pics and was really good for me. Like other's have said, the harder oils/butters may make it cloudy in large percentages but if you don't care about that i'm sure it will be a nice soap. Good luck!

Thanks girls, and yes I have now printed off David Fishers instructions...

.Laura I am in Australia and I forgot about the time difference.

Tasha, THANK YOU , I really needed to know if liquid soap had to be made in a crock pot.

I totally forgot about David's posts  His is a really good one and one I plan to follow with my first batch too. My supplies arrived today so I'll try to make my first batch either later today or tomorrow.

Good luck on your first batch as well and I hope it rocks! :D

Only got few batches under my blender, but last one was done CP. Actually I did heat it a little to speed up trace.

For some reason, I like it better than the previous batches, but also the recipe is different. Also, I am not aiming for a transparent soap (I don't even think it has "gelled"). Especially seeing that I prefer it as foam.
