I remember reading quite some time ago, something about using lecithin in soapmaking. So, of course I bought a pound of lecithin powder. Now, I have no idea whatsoever what to do with it, lol.

Any ideas? I tried melting it down with oils, but it doesn't melts so well :?

Thanks!

I bought 8 oz of lecithin a few years ago after reading about it, too, only I bought the liquid kind instead. The thing that I had read about it at the time was how it was supposed to prevent FOs from accelerating. I tried it in a few of my batches with a couple of my most troublesome FOs, but it didn't slow anything down for me. The FOs behaved as ornery as they always had for me. My finished soaps, however, had a nice glossy sheen to them and a creamier kind of feel to the lather.

I still have my bottle of lecithin, too. It's just sitting there taking up space.

IrishLass :)

I still use it with troublesome FO's. Lecithin is an emulsifier. I use about 1 tsp. PPO. The nice thing about it is that it will not discolor your batch.
