My first cupcakes came out ok, but I used Peaks Orange Chiffon Cake, and they turned dark brown. They smelled great, but I wasn't happy with the color. Also, they are bleeding brown in my shower, and they only turned brown from the vanilla!?
This time I used Lavender and Lemon fo's, hopefully they will stay these colors.

Fabby looking cupcakes, I found that with a lemon chiffon I used, but luck was on my side and I coloured that part yellow so ended up a dark yellow.

Those look wonderful. Although the piping is beautiful, I really love the way the bottom portion is done.

Thanks so much for the comments!
What do you all generally do when using a cupcake (as far as slicing?) I was thinking of cutting it down the middle vertically. That should give me a decent shape/size to use, yes?

Yes! Cutting it through the middle makes cupcakes easy to use, as you have the curved part to fit in your palm and the flat surface to rub over your skin.

I've considered cutting some in half to have on my display, as I think 'how to use' a cupcake is a huge question!
