I made my first batch of laundry soap this past week and was contemplating on adding baking soda to my mix but I'm not sure as to how much I should add. I used the following recipe for my laundry soap:

4 oz. Borax
4 oz. Washing Soda
4.67 oz. of grated Zote soap bar

Any suggestions as to how much baking soda I can add to this recipe?

Thx

Part of my WAHM biz (and actually my BIGGEST seller) is homemade detergent. However I don't use any soap or borax in mine, as it's marketed to be safe for cloth diapers (yeah I'm a tree hugger)..

My recipe is
22oz washing soda
8oz baking soda
7oz oxy clean

and you can add your soap to this if you like. I add borax (about 10oz) when I'm making a non-diaper detergent that is heavier-duty.

Oh and obviously I'm making much larger batches since it's for sale but it can be scaled down easily. This recipe we only use 2TBS per load so it lasts a long time, too..

You can get it cheaper in pool supplies - look for PH up or PH Plus.. exact same thing but bigger (5lb) jugs, they're about 7.00
