Lard

I am wondering if I can use pure lard from the grocery store that has bha, bht, and citric acid to make soap? Is there a different type of lard that is better? http://tenderflake.ca/product/pure-lard/

I use Armour lard from the grocery store with the BHA, BHT, and citric acid all the time. It is cheap and readily available almost everywhere.

I have used several brands of grocery store lard that contain the same or similar additives. So far they are all fine, and make great soap.

Lina, I bet that's fine. Basically it looks like it is all lard w/a v. small amt of that other stuff added as preservatives. Some of us even *add* those things b/c in soap they are good for chelation/reducing soaping soap scum and preventing DOS.

I use Manteca and have excellent results with it, also. I get it at Walmart. Loooooove lardy soap....

Yep, Armour brand Lard (Manteca) from Walmart is what I use as well. Makes a wonderful creamy soapy...
