I made shampoo bars using beef tallow. They are amazing.I was wondering about, do customers care, if there is animal fat in the soap ?

Some do some don't. My friends and family generally feel better about using a lard soap after I explain to them that most commercial soaps use animal fat.

I love lard soap, even with a 1% superfat it isn't as drying as commercial soaps. That said, the thought of using animal fats on my skin squigs me out. It's stupid but true. This is coming from someone who strives to reduce my environmental footprint to the best of my ability...

I live in Iowa where there's a lot of farmers or children of farmers living. They don't generally care what's in the soap.

I had always heard no animal fats in shampoo bars. I even asked here but got no definitive answer. But recently a guy I traded with (soap for pork fat) told me how his wife loved it for her hair! Then I finally tried it (duh) and also love it. I'm sure there will be people who say no to my regular formula which has both lard and tallow. And I'll have a veggie one for them. They just won't know what they are missing.

The only person who's ever had negative comments about lard in my soap is
a woman who makes & sells soap using olive, coconut & palm only.

Everyone I've ever given bars to has always had favorable comments.
Of course, they're friends & family so they could just be saying nice
things to make me feel good.

An acquaintance who runs a successful goats milk soap business often sells to Muslim and Jewish women who live in the local area. She tried to tell them that her recipe has lard in it ... and they weren't fazed a bit by that. They keep coming back.
