Lab Colors for cp soap

Has anyone used lab colors as a colorant for their cp soaps? I have been using oxides and ultramarines, but I have noticed that my pinks and purples just aren't what I am looking for. So any input on this would be much appreciated.

They're easy to use and you can adjust some as you go. I've mixed some of them on the fly, a squirt of this, some of that, resulting in some nice colors that probably aren't repeatable as well as some that are better hidden away in a very dark place.

Cherry - Non Bleeding - Same after gel as when poured into mold. I purposely went light on this one and liked the result.

Java Beans - darker after gel. I purposely used very little for this one and it is darker after gel than I wanted.

Citrus Green High pH - Salt bars

Lemon Sherbet - I went a bit heavy on this one.

Sure ya can. Believe me, if I can, you can. Look, it's a squeeze dropper bottle. Just be sure to shake it up good. I generally do that while I'm walking around doing something else, then I set it down to put something away and forget where it is. Then I waste another 10-15 minutes looking for it. Usually it's found right after the kids and dogs have left the living room and look for a place to hide to avoid my rant. I squeeze a couple drops while using the SB, then a couple more. Then maybe a little more depending on how I feel. Maybe more, maybe another rant because I squoze in 10 drops instead of 2 because I'm impatient. Some might still come in a bottle whithout dropper, but just get a couple of cheap droppers when you order the LabColors. They're handy to have. Trust me, this stuff is easy.

I have been using natural colors, but just bought Red and Green Oxide powder for Christmas soap, but I must have put to much. :? The Green color comes off on my hands but then washes itself off. But they look pretty

Too much will cause it to bleed, but like you said, it washes right off. I had that happen when I first started using the oxides. As for the LabColors none are mixed. They are the colors as purchased and used straight out of the bottle. You can alter the color some by using less. I haven't mixed any of the LabColors to get another - yet. It could happen. The Cherry Red turned the batter pink with just a few drops and I went from there. I haven't gone all the way to red with it yet. The teal matches what is in the bottle and has not bled. Lemon Sherbet, although way too much was used didn't run.
I like em! No mixing required.

Dennis - love the colors (and soaps) and your description of how to use them cracks me up! Probably because it sounds like you soap like I soap - some days all I need is an Ethel in there with me and I would have a hit comedy show about making soap the hard way!

How big was the batch?

I have no idea as far as how much ppo. If the color suits me while stirring I stop adding. If not I add more. The visual usually makes me smile or go YIKES! If you're not selling, just go for it and see what happens. That is my usual approach.

Ethel? Well, I have my mysterious, far, far eastern, sometimes soaping assistant, mother of my children, keeper of the critters and protector of the environment to help me. Sometimes it's good, and sometimes more of an adventure than I counted on.

Not to be a duh, but are you using the lab colors undiluted straight from the dropper? I see that the instructions say to mix them with distilled water before using,but if you can skip that....

Being a man, instructions don't get a lot of attention. I didn't mix with water, used straight out of the dropper bottle into the batter. Also, I've never used distilled water. Our city water source is wells in the Floridan Aquifer and lime, chlorine, phosphoric acid and fluorsilic acid (flouride) are added at the well head. I love my preservatives and additives. Along with my wrinkle control weight gaining program they keep me looking good in my old age.

EDIT: Strolled over to the BB site and looked at the LabColor Quick Start Guide. Lots of info there, but still will use my preferred concentrated drop method. Works fine for me and the year or more bars still look fine. BBs range of colors pretty much eliminate the need to blend for some other color. At least for me. Your mileage may vary. 8)
