AKA, absinthe soap. Just unmolded, smells wickedly intoxicating with anise, sweet fennel, coriander, and peppermint EOs.

Embracing the ashes; cannot wait to cut it ...

That looks awesome! It has to smell fairly incredible as well. My one experience in drinking absinthe I learned not to drink it from a paper cup; it ate through the cup before I could finish it.

Whoa, Badger, that must be some pretty potent version. How can you use a paper cup? And miss watching it turn cloudy as you dribble water in?

Thank you Shawnee! It I were to use your soap naming system, it would probably be: la Belle Époque.

I caved in and used some chrome oxide for the green, mixed with a little bit of French green clay. Wanted so much to use botanicals alone but it is almost impossible to get that psychedelic green (under the ashes). Even tried mixing woad with annatto, but it was very muted, and I am out of indigo. Dandelion did not work, either.

Next time I will consider spraying down the top with 90 proof absinthe to minimize the ash ...

You would think green would be the easiest color to achieve with natural colorants...but it can be really difficult to get the shade you want and not fade out! Spirulina makes a vibrant green, but fades so quickly (by 6 weeks I had tan!). Nettle & Dandelion are a more sage green, and French Green Clay is more muted. You probably wouldn't have been able to achieve an Absinthe green without some oxide.
It looks great and probably smells just as good!

Thank you! The closest way I could describe it in words is a herbal-y licorice candy or a very sweet fresh fennel with a bit of mint.

The white inserts are supposed to be "sugar cubes". They only have peppermint oil because I just want to add some sweetness, and be able to use the leftover trimming as confetti in other soaps without having an overpowering absinthe scent. Went light on peppermint in the main soap, just enough to tie it back to the cubes. I think I used 25g sweet fennel, 10g anise, 5g coriander, and 5g peppermint.
