This Kiwi Fruit (was born there) has decided to make Kiwi Fruit Soap.CP
So far my ideas are making the mold out of half PVC pipe 14 inches long.
I will fill in ends with solasticicked (plumbing stuff)in can lids. I have a wine rack they can sit to gell in.
I have a lovely green mica to make fruit flesh with.I can pre make the middle bit whiter.Poppy seed will do the seeds.
Now what could someone suggest to create the furry skin out of?Colouring for skin I thoght yellow oxide with some darker blue to ceate brown.
But it's that furry skin that is challenging me.
What essential oils or fragrances would work best.
Thankyou in advance for your ideas.

Hi starduster. Possibly you can use a brown felt material? And sort of fluff the outer layer out a little? I am just speculating here - I have no idea how you would go about attaching it to the outside of the soap! Or you can cut your soaps to size and then wrap in a brown fluffy washcloth?

Ummm..... :?

Tanya :)

I would suggest it as a wrapping as well - felt is fuzzy but not too fuzzy. But there are "furrier" materials in fabric stores, any employee could help you.

And of course I would recommend kiwi FO or maybe strawberry kiwi..

cutting the material? I wouldn't think so - should cut easily with scissors or a rotary cutter. Just measure the width of your soap disks and cut strips that width and long enough to go from one end to the other of the soap.
I'd personally attach the ends (overlap slightly) with a straight pin into the soap, since they'd need to remove the outer layer to use it anyway, but a drop of hot glue should work too.

So much help

This is great. I can see a fuit basket with a few Kiwi fruits wrapped on their furs.
The Tiaro Tea and Coffee shop that has some of my soaps also has some very real looking cup cakes made only out of face cloths. Therefore a green soap in face cloth will be splendid.
Thankyou Top Cat and Lil Outlaws.
I wondered where one would market the likes and thought of Travellers at Airports grabbing last minute gifts 'coss the fruit soap would look so refreshing.
Ps what is a rotary cutter?

a rotary cutter is like a handheld wheel that you just roll and cut. Put a straight edge (like a ruler or one made for quilting) along your cut line and just run the wheel alongside for a perfect and fast cut. You can cut several layers at once to make quick work of it.
here's one, but you can find them at walmart, joann's, anywhere that carries fabric/craft notions. Just ask for rotary cutters and they'll know exactly what you mean. You'll need a non-cut mat underneath, you could use a silicone cutting board or buy a special one with the cutter.

so you'll have round, disk-shaped soap, right?

then for the skin I suggest unbleached coffee filters for the wrapper. the round, pleated one for the basket filters.

You take a roll of duct tape and spread the filter over the top. Then put your soap on it and press it down through the holes. The filter will then be pleated and wrapped around your soap for you and you just have to slap a round label on it to seal it closed.

the filters are a somewhat rough texture and the color is brownish...

Half round

Actually I had more in mind half round as the pipe is split in half down its length. But that coffe liner skin still applies thankyou.
I will need to let all these ideas float arround in my head for a while.
Planning for the stages will be important.
Thanks for that idea.

Starduster if you want a rotary cutter, I'll send you one back with your swap items. I bought one because I was going to make quilts, but I got half-way thru my first one and realised that I am really bad at it!!
