Hi everyone,

I have the condition listed (its like red goose bumps on the back of my arms) I have always had it, its ment to get better as you get older, but recently it has got worse.
It usually doesnt bother me, but I thought I might try and make a soap or moisturiser to improve my skin.

I dont know much about the benefits of oils or herbs, so any advice would be fab.

For those who dont know, its really dry and bumpy and its almost like the hair folicle is blocked.

I'm thinking a really corse scrub with lots of moisture but but thats all I got so far......

It's annoying isn't it. Several times a week, I use a nylon pouffe with soap in the shower and I moisturise when I remember. I'm using whipped shea butter this week and it's helping a bit.

PS: I've just been doing some reading about it and someone said that they had a huge improvement with castor oil, so I'm going to try that.

I dont think Im helping it any by having excess showers to try all my new soaps! lol
I took soapbuddys advice and have made a sugar and salt scrub, never even thought - helps when you have all the ingredients on hand :D

I thought maybe someone would know of an essential oil that would help. Ive read that they sometimes use acne treatments, but I think that would be fairly drying and would like to take a natural approach

Hmm, I'll have to try that too. One more reason to hurry up and make a salt bar!

Funny how I had no idea what the name of the red bumps on my arm were. I remember my doctor had looked at them when I was a kid and said it was nothing to worry about, but it does look rather ugly when the area is redder than normal.

while it works for some, scrubbing can make them much worse - so proceed with caution.

I so feel your pain, believe me I have it everywhere. Fruit acids are suppose to help also or I read that apple cider vinegar too, but who wants to smell like a pickle lol. I use a sugar scrub and I use extra virgin coconut oil & a butter at night.

I read somewhere that something like 40% of the population has it, and if you carry the gene your children are 50% likely to get it. So its fairly common. My mum had it as a child and the DR told her it was lack of vitamin D and to spend time in the sun....

I tried a salt/sugar scrub last night with coconut, olive and caster oil and I think the layer of oil on the skin makes a difference. Store brought moisturisers dont seem to work, they just absorb too quickly.

As for the salt bar - I've made some but its curing, which I think will work quite well

Thanks everyone for your input :)

Might be true. I had it for 23 years on my arms until I moved into another country with a warm climate and much, much sun. And now its really not visible anymore on my arms!

lucky! We don't seem to get much of a Summer here anymore, climate change and all

My DH had the same and it seems that my regular Lemongrass soap works great. We thought it was just the soap but after a few months we realized that it is only the lemongrass. Hope this helps.

I have it too... I used Urea cream forever, but its not natural.. so stopped. I have noticed sun helps. I think I will try shea or mango butter on it. I honestly forget about it until mid winter when my skin dries right out!

My husband has it BAD. Swift has a liquid syndet shower gel posted on her blog. I made it and used it on hubby. His skin was amazing after that. It has white willow bark extract in it. It has also helped my DS's acne too. Google swift crafty monkey and it will get you to her blog. I can never get the addy right.
