Good morning everyone! I just received a large variety of mica from dibbledabblediy.com and am wondering what everyone does to keep the color vibrant during cp soap making. I have seen quite a few posts on google about the color morphing. I have used midnight blue from bramble berry that turned grey. I'd have been upset if it was used to color the entire soap but as it happened, it was a light swirl pattern

Did the color morph over time or was it lighter after you unmolded? I haven’t had any of my micas fade yet but have only been soaping for 3 months. I tend to use less mica as I’m not in to super vibrant colors and sometimes when I unmold the colors are a little lighter than I expected but none have morphed over time. So far I have only bought micas from Nurture Soaps and Brambleberry So I don’t have a lot of experience with different suppliers. Those look beautiful btw!

I only purchase my micas from reputable companies that have tested them in CP/HP (High PH). Nurture soap is my go to for most micas. I've never had an issue with them. I've got soap 7-9 years old that the colors haven't changed other than maybe a slight fade but hard to even tell.

Bramble Berry doesn't have a Midnight Blue mica on their website. They do have a la bomb colorant for bath bombs in that color, but la bomb isn't recommended for CP soap. I looked at Dibble Dabble and their mica is only recommended for melt and pour soap, so also not stable in CP. Sorry. :(

Most of my micas are from Nurture Soap.

Oh, I wasn't brave enough to do it yet lol. Then I did and screwed up on my first cpop. I am so mad at myself

Make sure you are using at the suggested rate. Nurture does have a midnight blue but I have never used it. I did purchase form them Dark Navy Blue and usage rate is suggested at 2 tsp PPO. First time I used it I tried at 1 tsp PPO just to see how it looked and it was more grey than blue. Since then I have used at the 2 tsp PPO and it is a dark navy. I do not love the color tho and glad I got it on sale since it's a more expensive mica.

I've used dibble dabble in my CP soaps, and they have been okay. The biggest problem is my inability to wait before pouring or swirling. But when I've waited until light trace I think the colors have worked fine.

I don't think they are as shimmery as other micas. I got a set off Amazon and you can literally see the shimmer in the colors vs the dibble dabble colors. Maybe that's because they are for melt and pour.

I just ordered a sample set of micas for nurture soap and they do look pretty fantastic. I could see maybe springing for a more expensive mica for a color I would use a lot and sticking with more affordable options for colors I won't use as often.

I've been happy with my Micas from Steph's Micas and more.

I made little samples of my Micas about a year ago. My Micas are from bramble berry, Micas and more, or wholesale supplies plus. I've noticed that some of my CP samples from bramble berry are fading. The blues are fading into green around 1 year of age.

These were unscented color samples made just so I could see what the color looked like in CP.

I have since looked at the packaging and it is for nails! SMH!
