Putting it in this section because....well....it was a beginner mistake!

Made a double portion of hp today, didn't really worry about letting the oils or the lye solution cool at all before mixing. Went off to check some scent ideas in the other room.....

The Admirable Lady was yelling my name, ran through to the kitchen to see my soap trying to get away! Spanked it with the spatula a while until it sunk back down in to the pot. Scooped the extra back in and then kept a keen eye on the little fiend. Didn't take too long to get cooked and managed to make a decent end result from it.

Moral of the story - if you're soaping hotter than usual with a recipe that fills your slow cooker more than you are used to, keep an eye on the whole thing or it'll jump out and try to run away.

I'm laughing at the way you described this; not because I'm laughing at what happened. I found it funny because I almost had a runaway batch a few months ago. Fortunately, I turned around in time to see it starting to crawl over the lip and was able to scoop it back and stir rapidly to get it down. I made a note on the recipe about not using this amount in a crockpot ever, ever again. Also, not to allow myself to be distracted by another batch.

I learned a valuable lesson the hard way to ALWAYS set a timer for 10/15 minutes so I dont wander off and forget about my HP soap in the slow cooker!
