1) Major, major issue at the beginning of the year. I can't relay details, but it was a very big, very nasty skeleton that climbed out of the sewer.

2) Hubby went in Friday for an MRI...some concerning issues. Afterwards, the radiologist asked a wait and then said that he consulted with hubby's PCP and they wanted us to go to the ER immediately and he was admitted a couple of hours later. Mini Strokes. And because the initial tests did not come out as expected, they ran additional tests and there are two more issues. Issues, if by themselves would be treatable and manageable, in combination have made for a 'perfect storm'. We'll find out today when he gets to come home. And when he does, he'll have to be monitored so I have already arranged to work from home...as long as I need to according to my boss.

3) Then just as I was about to go to bed I get a call from my son. There has been an accident and he's being transferred to the burn unit in the city. Wasn't paying attention, fell into their fire pit. Given the quick action of friends who saw what was about to happened, he was only in the fire for three to five seconds and has mostly 2nd Degree burns on both lower arms, across one shoulder and from his mid-back to his waistband. Thankfully he had just gotten out of the pool and had put on his jeans; they literally saved his butt and the back of his thighs. He also wasn't wearing a shirt, so they didn't have to clean that out. Even with Oxy and Morphine, it was still an excruciating experience and the head nurse overseeing it said, "Be glad that it hurts so badly, it means that you didn't burn off your nerves."

Hugs.....just...... hugs.

Will be keeping your hubby and son in my thoughts.

@TheGecko I'm so sorry that you are dealing with all of this. It does seem like the universe will pile on at times, but hopefully things will turn around for your family very soon. Sending hugs, and you will be in my thoughts.

Hubby is home. He has to be monitored for TWO weeks, boss said no problem. We have a follow-up on Thursday with his PCP who will be covering the Mini Strokes and we'll be a seeing a specialist regarding his arm issue.

I was planning to go see son tomorrow, but he called just a bit ago and asked me to come up today...they are taking the bandages off this afternoon. He has surgery scheduled for Friday for the skin grafts and I may go up for that if his wife can't get off work.

Keeping your son in my thoughts; our family has experience with burns (my b-i-l was involved in a work accident many years ago and burned over 75% of his body, 2nd and 3rd degree). It's a painful process and will take time and patience. I wish him the strength and patience he will need to get through this ordeal.

They changed the bandages before just before I got there, but they took pictures for him and I understand why they wait 24-48 hours...what didn't look too bad at first, 1st and 2nd Degree Burns, turned out to be 2nd and 3rd Degree. So instead of a few minor skin grafts, they are covering pretty much everything and figure it will take a couple of hours.

If everything goes well, he can be discharged next Tuesday. And if everything continues to do well, he can expect to go back to work the 2nd week of July.

That is incredibly good news!!

Hoping everything goes well for him. It is a painful process but if it helps any, our neighbor was seriously burned over a very large part of his body in a work accident and is fine now. I know this doesn’t lessen the concern you have for your son, but there is a lot of hope for a good outcome.
