My soap looks like lizard skin and is wet! I used aloe in the water mix but added the aloe to the oils instead of the lye water because I didn't want it to scorch or discolor.

It was in the oven the oven wasn't on or warm, I put it in there so the cats and kids don't get into it. :)

It only did this inside the mold, the top looks perfect.

I agree. It does look cool and I really like the colors. Have you checked for zap? Is the wetness like water or is it oily? How long ago did you make it? If it's zap free, I'd let it sit for a few days or so to see it the wetness will absorb into the soap. I've had an liquid type puddle on a loaf of soap (used too much water ) and let it sit for about a week. The liquid absorbed into the oil and the soap was fine.

Who knows? You may have inadvertently created a new technique. ;)

It looks like lizard or alien skin... lol I like it too. I believe it is water, it doesn't feel oily, and as it sat exposed to air, it seems to have evaporated the surface of the soap is still a bit pitted where the liquid was sitting. (I didn't expect the soap fairy to magically smooth the soap, but it would have been nice.) I cut a couple pieces, but the soap seemed a bit softer than I like so Im going to finish cutting it this afternoon. There were no cracks or abnormal moisture bubbles inside. Here's to hoping the rest of the loaf is just as nice!

Too bad you can't duplicate that. It's really good looking in the picture. My first thought was Blue Octopus; a rare soap scientists believe to be used by the elusive mermaid. I tried to contact a couple of those scientists for comment but they're off in the deep woods out of cell range looking for Big Foot. :shifty:

Yes Dennis, I think I know the scientists of whom you speak. Maybe if you come up with a Bigfoot soap, you can lure them out.:p In any case, I think your soap looks great, rebekahhall. Don't have a clue as to the cause though.

Those turned out really nice! I'd like to hear how they are in about a week. How much water did you use for your batch?

I am very creeped out by the Blue Octopus comment because they're scary.

Gasp! They have ears?

Wait...that's okay 'cuz I didn't say it aloud. It's only a problem if they can read. Also, I said they were scary which they're proud about so that wouldn't even upset them.

@ rebekahhall

I apologize that your thread got off topic. But Pepsi Girl is right. It's Dennis' fault because he started it.

Lol I don't mind! A big part of the reason I love this forum is because of all the great people. I got a crack out of the conversation too. :)
