Really? I have one stem of mother earth in a vase with three flowers and its almost to strong to have in the house. All my iris are heavily scented. They are they tall bearded iris variety, the Siberian or water iris have no scent.

Those look similar to Siberian iris and they unfortunately have no scent. Do you have tall bearded iris in Australia? They smell wonderful, you need to experience it. This is the variety I have in the house.

One of the things that I love about Iris is the different scents the varieties have. I have two kinds of old fashioned ones that smell fruity while others like the mother earth is more sweet and powdery.
I might go to the iris gardens tomorrow, if I do I'll take pictures.

Boy does this bring back memories! My mother lined the entire edge of our yard with bearded iris....purple, yellow, peach...etc. I swear the yellow smelled gently of lemon, and the purple did smell like grape!

I'd love to know if there is a good iris fo too!

Obsidian, you are making me very jealous! What gorgeous flowers! Tell your mother that I love her flowers!

We have tall beared Iris, mainly for growing in home gardens in the colder areas. The blue one I put up was more for bunches that I used in Floristry as they keep longer as a cut flower. Love peonies, the scent is exquisite - I noticed they were $15 for 3 in a bunch the other day.
