I did a cp soap yesterday and added the fo, and instant clumping! like cottage cheese, so i stick blended the crap out of it and i think i saved it! i soaped at 110, so was it the fo? it was "island flower" by millcreek.

Gee Honor, it sounds suspicious that right after you added the fo you had clumping. Haven't used that fo before, so I can't speak from personal experience. If you were using a recipe that you've used before and the only thing different was your fo, it certainly seem the likely culprit.

Glad you were able to save it! :)

DEFINATELY sounds like the FO, I have had a few florals really nail me, I have one sitting on the counter right now that would be a runner up for the ugliest soap contest right now, similar thing, but mine ended up getting all oily and gooey..eeew...

I made soap yesterday and before I even got the FO in, it was solidifying. I, too had to stick blend like crazy. It was an OO, PO,CO with liquid silk added to the lye water. What the heck was that all about?? I mixed at 100F. Does silk do this? I used a very tiny amount.

OK, so here is the wierd thing: I made my second batch of cp last night. Olive-Canola-Coconut-Crisco.....everything was great until I added "monkey farts" and then blobby cottage cheese looking soap. It is still this am looking lumpy, but it has hardened. I will cut tonight and see what it looks like.
I think that in the future I am going to be using only natural herbs and spices to color and scent my soap.
I cant believe I saw this post, I was up until 3 am last night reading the past posts on here starting with no. 188!!!!!! I really didnt find any solutions or reasons. What a coinkydink, huh?

Well, at least im not the only one! i have never used this fo before, and it was the same recipe i always use(co, oo,po, castor), actually ive never use this company before(millcreek candles, yes its body safe), but the last one didnt do this, oh well, i think its saved.

Floral FOs. They're evil. Sorry you had gremlins.

Sorry the floral fo gremlins came calling on you . I was reading that if you wait a bit , you can stick blend it back into submission . I haven't tried it , but it is food for thought.

Try soaping cool, and adding the FO at the very beginning into your melted and cooled oils.

The scent will come through and this should buy you some time. Also, especially with florals, start by hand stirring to see what's gonna happen.

I made some hyacinth soap for my grandmother's birthday, and it was traced in under two minutes hand stirring. It's quite lovely, but that was a wild roller coaster ride getting an ITP swirl into that.
