Dear Soap Friends, After curing a couple of months my soap still does not have a consistent color (see picture). It's not a huge difference, kind of between white, cream, and maybe tan. It's a basic recipe with olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, and castor oil (and distilled water). Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to get a more consistent color? Thanks in advance, Dave

Are you using any fragrance oils? They can discolor soap. Partial gel can also cause soap to be two-toned. Next time you might want to cover the top of the mold with plastic wrap and then insulate the mold with a couple of thick towels or a blanket to achieve a full gel.

It might be surface ash, not sure. Making sure your soap goes through a full gel and then spraying the exposed surface with 90% isopropyl alcohol generally deters it.
