ok, this has happened to me like 10 times, today most recently! i mix my rt lye/water to warm oils then mix, fine, then added fo and instant thick, bad soap fairies today. :cry: it was wsp honey/shea. hope i glopped it in the mold fast enough.

I don't know but when you mentioned RT lye and the WARM oils.....could there have been too much of a temp. difference that could have caused the problem. And of course it could have been the FO.

I have had problems when using my lye at RT. So when I say Room Temp, I'm talking about 100%. In the past if I let the Lye drop all the way down it wants to thicken up on me a little....not always, but has enough that I don't let it get that cool anymore.

Just throwing Ideas at ya.

Try adding the FO to the oils before you add the lye/water solution.

Also, I usually soap with the lye/water at least 100*. Things seem to work better that way. I just haven't had any luck with room-temp anything.

Once my lye/water and oils are both warm when I touch the outside of the pan/container, I go. So far so good.

I think it might be your temps being different and possibly the FO ( I don't know that FO ). I soap when the oil and lye is RT and I always add my eo or fo to the oil before the lye . I could be just having a run of very good luck , but it 15 or 20 batches , I've had no issues with acceleration , ricing , or seizing .
