It started with a conversation I was having with a friend when I was talking about my foray into soap making. We talked about whether you could make a soap bar out of just lard, the concept made us laugh. Then after asking around on here people talked about making soap just out of Olive Oil and how they'd been bought from abroad for silly prices. Though I wasn't looking to sell this at all, I wanted to give it a crack, and I did. This is the result and I am hot in love.

Obviously they need to cure so the story may be different when I actually try them out and I'm about to try a bit of scent in my next batch, but I love these.

Nice looking soap! I personally don't care for Castile but many people love it. I do like 100% olive with buttermilk as the liquid but I guess technically that isn't Castile.

What's in the center of the loaves in the first pic?

That's just the way the bar laid. It saponified a little thicker in the end so when I poured it in you got the raised bit in the middle. In truth I'd started the whole process when I realised my thermometers were broken (both) so I had to guess and really expected a ruined batch. The thing in the centre looks a little more pronounced I suspect as it still needs to cure a little more. That picture is after 2 days only.
