is icing sugar confectionary sugar? If so, how much should I add to a 4lb batch? Do I add it at trace? Sorry I have so many questions. The more I read the forum, the more ideas I get. This place is AMAZING !!!

Icing sugar & confectionery sugar are the same thing but I don't know how much sugar to use per pound of soap....Someone with come experience will come along shorty & be able to provide you exact answer to your :?:

you can use any kind of sugar because you need to fully dissolve it in the water BEFORE you add the lye. 10X might dissolve a little faster but regular granulated works just fine.

Be sure, thought, that it is 100% dissolved before adding the lye or you will get some lovely globs of insoluble (or seemingly) caramelized sugar and will end up tossing your lye solution...

i like to add some goatsmilk or coconut milk at trace. i mix my honey or powdered sugar in that-making sure its well disolved!

i use 1 tsp ppo. :D

I made up a "sugar syrup" as Soapmaker Man recommended, and it works really well.

I added 2 cups of regular granulated sugar to 1 cup of boiling water, and let it continue to boil until it thickened into a syrup. Let it cool, and put it in a squeezable bottle.

I add a tbsp. or so to each 3.5 lb batch at trace. I'm noticing the difference!
