i have a learning disorder that make figuring out the process to come up with an answer in math problems very hard. i am trying to figure out how much flavor oil i need for 16 oz of base.

i got the flavor from fromnaturewith love and it said to use 3%. but i cant seem to figure out what that is exactly for 16 oz. :? help anyone?

Thanks for the link, Genny. I like that and will save it to my notebook as well. Something I want to point out, although we don't necessarily need to be this precise when it comes to flavoring, is that you can't really compare ml to ounces. Milliliters are a measurement of volume, while ounces are a measurement of weight. Of course, in this case, it's probably easier and more practical to measure in volume, rather than try to weigh out 1/2 ounce (which is approximately 3% of 16 oz.). If you have a precision scale and you REALLY want to, you could weigh out the flavor oil to be more precise. However, the volume, in this case, will work just fine.

Alright, stepping down off of my scientific soapbox now. :)

Incidentally, the way you figure out percentages is to multiply. So, to find 3% of 16oz., you would multiply 16 x .03 (notice the decimal point).

thanks so much both of you! i was thinking i would use a syringe (new of course) to measure out since i have some that are measured in ml.

I always go to WSP's site and use the Batch size calculator. You put in the % you want for the total amount you want, and it tells you what % it is. They also have a reverse one where you put in amounts, and it tells you what the individual %'s are. I would have a head explosion if it wasn't for those. lol

You're welcome.
I use the batch calculator, too.

Somewhere I also have a conversion calculator/chart thingmabob (that's the technical term)
