I used coco powder, I was thinking about using coffee, but too uncertain of it to try it, I am a newbie!

I put the log in front of the heater to and then forgot about it, so i thought i overheated it, but it came out ok!

The bottom half is Sandalwood vanilla so I am expecting it to be brown!

YEY, I am ver excited about this one!

They look beautiful!! Congratulations. I've been meaning to try a line in my soap. Can you describe your method?

Also, I'm wondering, if I use mica for the line, will it bleed when the soap is used (seems like undissolved mica usually does bleed, but I've seen someone else use it and it worked for them). :?

Beautiful soaps! I am so impressed by all of you adventurous soapers out there. I have to move away from the solid color soaps one of these days!! Great inspiration.

very pretty! Wonderfully contrasting, I bet they smell delightful.

How did you make the line? Did you mix the cocoa with oil or did you just sprinkle it on the first layer (please forgive my ignorance--I'm new at this)

Thank you all for the compliments!

I think the bottom half has DOS, bummer, but I still love it...

This is what I did:

I made a batch of my regular base recipe- I use Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Castor Oil... then I got it to a thick trace, not quite pudding but thicker than normal, split the batch in half, added Sandalwood vanilla to one half (because I wanted the different color and vanilla turns brown)...

By then the soap was pretty thick, like pudding, I was getting nervous, but I wanted it thick so my layer would sit on top.... so i poured the colored soap into my log mold.... spread it out and then textured the top of the first layer..

Now for the coco powder... I put it in a small cup with a panthouse around the top so that I had to shake it out... sprinkled just enough to cover the first layer becuase I didn't want the two halves to come apart....

Then I had to clean the remaining sides of my mold where I got some soap and coco powder... and poored the second layer right on top of the coco powder, then I textured the tops a little with a chop stick... put the lid on and put it in front of the heater.... oops a little too long I think, lol...

That's what I did....
