Is there something I can put in soap to make it a "scent eliminator"?? Like the "no scents at all" spray you can buy for hunting?

Hunters are a BIG deal around here, I'd love to make a soap just for them.

Any input is appreciated!

(PS I am a MP soaper)

Hi lil Outlaws, try clicking on the search funtion at the top right of this page and use 'hunting' as the keyword, choose 'soap forum' and see what comes up. I clicked on one topic and it mentioned anise EO was good for masking human scent. You may find lots more info. I am sure that what works as a masking scent in CP wlll also work in MP - it's the smell that counts. HTH!

Well, here's my theory. I used to deer hunt, shot my first deer which practically walked over me. When I hunted, I rubbed my clothes & boots with grass, leaves, & dirt right from the ground I was hunting on. Deer walked within 10 feet of me many times.

So, when DH asked me for a hunter's soap (Skeeter's [his nickname] 30 Point Buck Soap), I chose Cedarwood EO & Dirt FO, because the area he hunts has lots of cedar trees.

Anise is for fishing. Cat fish bate is scented with anise. My dad's tackle box always smelled like licorice candy.

We have tons of cedar here too - does your soap seem to work for him?

Anyone have opinions on whether you can add the "scent eliminating" hunting spray to soap? It says it contains silver particles to neutralize scents.. ???

This probably won't help with MP but I understand coffee is used as a scent eliminator for CP kitchen soaps. The coffee scent doesn't remain for very long (I'm told).

I have a very coffee heavy but otherwise unscented batch curing now so I'll see how it works on removing odors. I can verify that even though I used a triple strength batch of coffee in the lye and fresh grounds in the oils, there is little if any coffee scent unless you get your nose right up on it.
