I don't know where to report this. I would encourage all of you who use the USPS to check with your distribution center to make sure your records are correct.

I was able to check the dollar amount my local PO said I paid in postage this year. They reported almost $23,000 US. In actuality, the correct amount would be in the hundreds of dollars, $1,000 at the very most.

And I believe it wasn't just my small business whose numbers had been astronomically inflated. I suspect there were others, although I don't know if that's a fact.

This seems it could be a huge falsification of records, though again I don't have all the relevant information. Any ideas as to govt. institutions I should contact?

ETA: So I filed a whistleblower complaint with the USPS Inspector General's office, and will be anxious to get notice of follow-up.

That seems really weird. I'd suggest contacting the Board of Governors of the United States Postal Service. I'm not sure if it would help but I can't think of another agency which monitors USPS. The only other suggestion would be to contact a politician from your state like a congressman or senator.

Heck! Pull out the big guns! Write to the president!

eta: I saw while I was writing my reply, you had edited your post which makes my reply irrelevant. I'm just too slow.
