I have just made my first batch of HP soap, and my eyes filled with desire can’t restrain themselves from staring at my fresh soaps peacefully curing in a corner of my home. I then start thinking about the process of curing...

I understand that the purpose of curing HP soaps is that the water evaporates, which will make a more hard and durable soap. But I wonder about the reason behind this. Why does a soap with a lower water content is better? What is the scientific reason behind the curing process?
