Hi everyone,
kind of new to soap and was just wondering how to make a mould for cold process soap making? I am from Australia and can't seem to find any online....any suggestions? Thanks!!

Hi Vonna and welcome to the forum! I am in Australia too and have a plastic Nizzy 12 bar mould which I love- see this link: http://nizzymoulds.com/

Also you can get a wooden loaf mould from Aussie Soap Supplies: http://aussiesoapsupplies.com.au/Wooden ... -c-67.html scroll down the page for plastic and wooden moulds. This is where I found the link to Nizzy's moulds also.

I also use individual moulds that I have for MP soaping without too much trouble and I love my silicone bakeware....makes excellent soap moulds.

I have also found a link to DIY mould making: http://www.crabapplesoap.com/woodcraft.html

HTH!

Tanya :)

Check youtube for a tutorial on how to make your own wooden soap mold. A member from the forum made a video on how to do it not too long ago...

Also, instead of lining with freezer paper like some do, try cutting up some of those disposable mylar chopping mats (you can buy them in some dollar stores, I found mine at Canadian Tire) to fit your mold. I use them and they work great!

Thank you!!!!

Thank you so much!!! I have alot of stuff ready to order off aussie soap supplies but I didn't see the mould :D Thanks again!!

Vonna

Hi Vonna!!
Welcome to the forum, and to soapmaking. You are going to have so much fun. Whereabouts in Aus are you?
Aussie Soap Supplies is great, I just ordered a heap of stuff from them, DH said I could order a heap of stuff for my birthday so I went wild!! Can't wait to get it all. :D

:)

I'm near Rocky in Queensland. Yeah, I've been dreaming of starting a soap business since I was about nine years old and I've wanted to do it ever since! :) I am home with my 2 beautiful girls (18 months and 3) and I really would love to have a job I love and and if I made money doing it, that would only be a bonus!! I just don't know where to start. figured I would start off small here in my kitchen of course and just have parties and sell at markets and such. I guess we'll see how it goes! Where abouts are you?

Hey Chrissy! When was your birthday? Many Happy Returns of the Day to You!!!

Vonna, I live near Chrissy on Lake Macquarie NSW....Chrissy is closer in towards Newcastle (you don't mind if I answer that do you CB? ). Starduster is up on Bauple Mountain north of Cairns I think.

We are running our first Aussie Swap for 2009.....I know you haven't started soaping as yet - do you handmake anything else so you can join in with us? Click on the link below my name and have a read of the swap thread for information.

Tanya :)

Yeah, I've made body scrubs, bath bombs, oil blends, lotions, and soon to be soaps :) I used to make candles but haven't done that for a very long time. My goal though is to make it as a "soaper" :) I'm so glad I've found this forum. Now it doesn't feel like I'm all alone in this. If I have questions I actually have someone to ask now!! It's great!!

TC, my B'day isn't until 3/3. I am just getting in early and making sure that DH doesn't forget to buy me something. I just ordered everything that I have been putting in my wish list for the last couple of months, and then he just paid for it. It should all come later this week!! Can't wait, but he will probably make me wait till my b'day for it!!
Vonna you will have so much fun, there is a few of us aussie gals on here!! I have worked in the public service for the last 10 years of my life, then fell pregnant with my daughter and decided that I would be a stay at home mum, I love it. With my other children I was at uni studying and working, I feel I really missed out. Anyways I am making up for that now!!
I got into soapmaking about a year and half ago. I love it, it's something that is just mine, and it gives me a little bit of sanity away from the kids, and uses my brain too!! Oh and I get (sometimes)lovely soap at the end of it!!

Okay,
I just looked at the Swap and it sounds so great!!! I'm not going to put my name down just yet though because me and hubby might be going away in a few days so I'll have to check all that out. Sounds great though!! I'll let you all know!!

Hey ChrissyB,
That sounds like me :) I have the two girls and have no time for myself so I decided this would be it. I also make jewellery but had to kind of put that on hold and then got back into bath and body products. I can't believe how much reply I've got back on this forum! :) I didn't even expect a reply in the next week! It's great!! :)

You will learn heaps on here. My only regret about this forum is that I didn't join sooner. I just read heaps and heaps for ages, but never joined, when I should have just joined in from the beginning!!
Everyone on here is really helpful!

Vonna - we will wait until you are ready to decide about the swap....the date I picked was just to give everyone something to aim for in replying  As you won't have to wait for soap to cure you can join in a little later if that suits you.

Chrissy - you have the same birthday as my Nanna did! Of course if she were still with us she would be turning...ummm....wait - I know I can work this out.....114!!! My DH's sister also uses that date for her day. So, I take back my birthday wishes....you will have to wait for them now
