I am trying to put together a base recipe for a milk soap at 7% superfatting.
Using only a few ingredients.
I am trying to keep the Olive oil low, as my skin doesn't seem to like too much olive oil for some reason, but my skin seems to like lard for some strange reason. I am trying to keep the hardness fairly high, and the cleansing moderate, but would like to bump up the conditioning without upsetting the Hardness and cleansing numbers.
Any good ideas on how to do that as when you change one number it often effects the others. I want to use milk instead of water, so I know that may change a few things later on. too.
Here is what I am thinking for a base recipe, but want more conditioning..

Lard--9.2
OO--12.6
PKO-7.8
Castor-3.3
COCO---..4
which gives -----
Hardness--40
Claensing--17
conditioning -56
Bubbly 25
creamy-32

thanks for any thoughts.....

Here is what I came up with on SoapCalc:

11 oz lard
12 oz olive oil
4 oz Castor oil
7.8 oz palm kernel flakes

This will give you the following numbers:

Hardness 39
Cleansing 15
Conditioning 57
Bubbly 25
Creamy 35

sorry I didn't make myself more clear, its 0.4 coconut oil.
Concerning the cleansing number 15 isn"t that on the low side? Or is 17 too high?. not real knowledgable about those numbers..

15 is ok for the cleansing value. The higher the cleansing value of a soap the more oils are rinsed away from the skin. The numbers I posted show a fair conditioning value and good creamy and bubbly suds.

Cleansing number of 1 get you clean??I guess I don't know much about cleansing numbers, as I sort of figured 17 is half way between 22--12, and sort of figured that under 12 was basically grease and oils and not much of anything else!! shows how much I know EH??
Anyways, with the cleansing at 17 and the hardness at 40 the best I have been able to do with jiggling oils is to get a conditioning of 56.
How do you rate a 56 conditioning number with 7% superfatting -high-low?
Or would it be better to sneak the superfatting up to 8 %or is that getting "touch and go" with a milk soap and running the risk of rancid problems??
thanks for the input..
