I'm planning on making my second batch tonight, but I'm not sure how much EO to put in.

I used peppermint EO in my very first batch but I didn't put enough in and it doesn't smell too good right now!
My problem is that I didn't measure it, so I don't know how much was not enough!

My recipe is:
19.2 oz coconut oil @ 60%
8 oz palm oil @ 25%
4.8 oz olive oil @ 15%
12 oz water
4.9oz lye ( 8%superfat)

(I got my numbers from MMS)

So how much EO do you think I should use ( it's lavender)

Thanks all x

Well, that's it made!! :D

So far so good

How long should I let it cure for, 4 or 6 weeks?
I'm dying to try it

If it doesn't zap on the tongue test then you should be able ot use it. Let it sit for at least 4 weeks to achieve better hardness.

The amount of eo really depends on the strength of the eo,& whether you want a mild or strong effect. eg:you'd need to use more citrus eo than say lavender or peppermint.
The rates I use(as a very rough guide) are:

Average eo's: .7oz ppo
Strong eo's: .4oz ppo
Citrus eo's: 1oz ppo

So for an average scent level I'd use .4oz ppo for a strong eo(like pepermint or lav),& up it to .7 if I was after a more intense effect. Likewise .7 of an average eo,upped to 1oz ppo etc...

Stuff like clove, cinnamon, blackpepper I use very lightly, more of an accent(you don't need much, believe me!).Even the lowest rate there would be too much IMO.

.5 is probably a good starting point,& remember that what you smell when you add yr eo's to the pot is WAAAY stronger than what they'll actually turn out to be! :)
