oh nooooo it turns out that 1.2 gram = 0.042 328 754 339 ounce BUT my scale only measures from 0.1 and onwards, this is a measurement for liquid germall preservative, ANY help would be great as I have the rest of the ingredients waiting to be mady up into some mushy wobbly soapy belly jelly looking stuff :D

LJA, thanks for the link, that put my mind at rest to read that.
I had a look on the web last night and converted grams to mls which made things sooooo much easier so today I will make my smelly belly jelly stuff (i'm still not sure what to call it yet  ) thanks again

I'm uncomfortable with overdosing preservatives because many are quite irritating when used at 2X the recommended level. there's actually been discussion of this among the big manufacturers lately.

I am actually going to suggest that you figure out how many drops in 0.1 oz (or better yet 0.5 oz) and work backward from this. Be sure to re-check that a few times, and don't do it by putting your cup on the scale and adding a drop at a time because scales aren't generally very accurate that way.

(I think working in volume is wrong, but sometimes you have to take that route).

yanno,Im thinking of buying a point gram scale. Im doing own use stuff in small amounts,& my regular scale just doesn't cut it for teensy bits. Got my last one on ebay, maybe you could try that gg?
I have 3 eye droppers,2 different dripolators cb, & all the drops are different sizes :( waaa

Thanks carebear, yeah I think i'm gonna have to work out the weight with drips I just wish my scales were more accurate.

gekko, I brought my scales from Tuppaware for $99, as handy as they have been for the soaping i'm thinking I will need to get something more detailed for something requireing such small quantities. I think i'll go check out ebay or oztion and see what I can find.

lotions and the like require a very precise scale.

yes I agree carebear.Well,I have almost zero experience with lotion & the like, but I imagine measurements would need to be spot on,esp preservatives.Im looking at a scale that weighs up to 500g in .1g increments. Don't wanna be doing any guesswork, lotionmaking is daunting enough as it is! :)
