How Big Are Yours???

Bars of soap that is Do you have 100g, 125g bars etc. Just interested to know what everyone here has.

I make 2 sizes 2.5 oz and a 6 oz bar. Its just because the molds I have. I want a new mold so make a 4.5 oz bar

I say 4.5 oz but they tend to be just a touch bigger...

Before a full cure they are about 6oz or over - after cure they range from 4-5 oz bars.

I make a guest size that is about 2 - 3 ounces and my regular bars are between 4.5 - 5 ounces.

I am trying to make 100g bars, but I am not sure how to calculate this.

I take total amount of oils + lye and divide into 10 bars. This leaves me with 107g. But as they need a bit of tidying up thats fine.

Is that about right ?

When is the best time to weigh them ?

I use a soap cutting block to cut my soaps to a specific size - I know that this will give me soap that weighs between 4.5 - 5 oz because I weigh them on my scale occassionally to see what the weight is. For my odd sized / mold soaps I weigh them on the scale as well so I know their weight as well.

In my calculations I didn't include any of the water which was added as I assumed that it will evaporate.

I weigh them when they are cured and ready for packaging....
