Moine are 2.5" x 3.25ish" after shrink. The box mold is 2.75" x 3.5." I ordered a silicon mold yesterday and realized too late it's too small. I'm going to have to send it back and find a better one. Unless I just happened to make big soaps. Any input on how big bars should be?

This is the size of my mold....and they aren't much different after shrinkage.

height = 2.25
length = 7.25
width = 3.75

I did order a larger loaf since I want to make some biggies ;)

my loaf bars are not very big.. cannot say what is the exact size but it could hold about 600-700gm of soap. I like to make in small batches since i don't sell them...

Mine are about the same size Mel. I really love bigger bars of soap though. I wish my molds were a little wider. My soap cutter slices 1 inch thick so I am stuck on that dimension too. My soaps weigh about 4.5 ounces after a good cure.

My mold specs are: 11"L X 3 1/4"W X 2 3/4"D but I usually mound on the top, so I sometimes get 3 1/4" x 3" and I cut mine at 1 1/4 in. so my bars are anywhere between 7 and 9 oz.

I think the one I got is like 3.5" x 2.25 tall. That just seems small to me. I don't really mound that much. eventually I will be switching to a slab mold anyway. We'll have to see when the mold comes I guess. Shannon, 7-9 oz are HUGE bars! :D is that before or after cure?

Before... after cure they end up being between 6 and 8 oz. still pretty chunky though so I'm looking forward to a 1" slicer.

I always produce soaps with wether 800g oder 500g (just the weight of the oils). I cut my soaps into 2-3cm thick bars. I dont like too small bars.

I think I'm in the minority here. My bars are about 5 oz, but I am working on a method of making creating 3 oz bars and selling my customer 2 in a pack. I guess I have small hands but I hate trying to hold on to a big huge bar in the shower...I like palm size. Nothing worse than dropping that bad boy in the shower on your foot..owww

My bars are about 100 grams of weight, and the size is approx 7cm x 6cm, thickness about 1,5 cm or 2 cm. Too thin a bar is not welcome. Question: what do you do with the scraps? I tried remelting - don't like it much. I used to use an organza bag to keep all the scraps and use to the end

My bars are between 5-7 oz. I like big bars of soap, but rarely use them. I am usually testing out many samples in the shower.
I feel like I'm cheating some how when I use a full-size bar!

I was thinking I want mine to weigh around 5 oz. 4 oz is the same size as a commercial bar, it seems like it's handmade it should just be "better," and by "better" I mean "bigger is better." I love big chunks of soap but I understand the issue with not being able to hold them. I understand also some people cut their soaps especially if they are soap addicts so they can change the fragrance they are using often.

I like the way the big chunky bars look. They just look handmade and rustic. I try to cut my bars 1 inch thick with a weight of 4 -5 ounces. I don't cut very even so they are often more than 5 ounces.

I try to cut my bars to weigh about 4-5 oz. My mold is 3.5 x 2.5 and the length is variable.
