Hi, first of all I would like to say a big Hello to all you soapers, Im so glad I foound this sight, Ive been making melt and pour for a year now and have just ventured into cold press soap making and have made 2 batches now, and wanted to add essential oils. Im making a recepie that makes 2 1LB loaves, I wanted to aask, how much essential oils I should use, I like smelly soaps, qite strong. I use bottles of oils which have 10ml in them, I just wondered how many ml I should use in the 2LB recepe ??
Thank you in advance of any replies... Im soooo excited about making soap, thrilled to bits. Im making it for my family and as Christmas presents, I do hope it turns out alright. I have read up on alot of you info and know to be carefull.
Thanks
Shelltilly :)

Welcome to the forum! :D

I think you're going to have to experiment with your EOs. It will depend on the strength of the distillation. For EOs, I generally use .5 to 1 oz ppo which would be 15 ml to 30 ml ppo. Since you want a strong scent, then for a 2 - 1 lb batches you would use at least 60 ml. But it's going to be personal preference. You might decide you prefer a higher percentage of EOs.

I don't know if you're aware that some EOs don't do well in cold process soap. They fade away. Several people suggested using cornstarch or clay to help anchor the scent. Here's the link to that discussion.
