Hi everyone.

First off I want to say that I think this is going to be a fun forum for me, if I get into soap making. I have been watching videos on YouTube for weeks about making soap and it really looks like something I would enjoy doing.

I'm not your average guy, at least I don't like to think I am. :) I really enjoy cooking and home canning. I also love making dollhouse miniatures. I have always been crafty and artsy.

My first thought about making soap was a couple years ago when I purchased some lovely soap at a local Renn Faire. The stuff was amazing and my skin felt so nice after using it. I was sad when it was gone but life got in the way and the thought of learning to make my own quickly disolved into job searching and dealing with other issues.

Once again, this year, I went to the Renn Faire and the lady sold me more soap and again I'm excited. I'm determined to make my own now.

I am very interested in doing HP Soap as I am not known for my patience. I'm really hoping that I can get some made and like it well enough to include in some Christmas gift baskets for friends with some homemade hot sauce and some pickles! See, not the normal guy gifts. HAHA

Anyway, enough from me. Thanks for letting me join and I'm sure you will be seeing me around, asking lots of questions and being a general pain in the bottom. ;-)

welcome Dale! nice to have another crafty guy around here!

Hi and welcome Dale! I'm the soap maker in our house but my husband is also very crafty. I do mostly HP because I am impatient. There's a lot of information here and a lot of experienced soap makers to help you learn. Beware, it is an addiction! :)

It's always good to know I'm not alone. :) I am prepared for the addictive consequences and can take time off for SMA (Soap Makers Anonymous??) if need be.

Now to find some really easy, beginner HP recipes. Off to do some searching on here. HAHA

welcome! patience is not one of my virtues, BUT i still do CP soaps. 4 weeks go by really quickly when you're constantly making soap.........

Another welcome, I to don't have patience but do mostly CP. As neeners said 4 weeks go fast. Also, HP can use a 4 week cure as well as it's not only about evaporation....the longer it cures the milder and better it becomes.

Oh man, sooo many one liners with that title and my forum name but just not sure how they will fly. Sooo will just say, welcome Dave! You sound like you have some sweet crafty skills.
