I live down town in Philadelphia. While walking home from dinner I took a side street. In the dumpster behind a restaurant was a large steam table (see pic below). I need it like I need a whole in the head.... but it's all stainless steel and is probably worth something. So I knock on the door to the kitchen and ask if I can have it. I was told yes and now it's in the back of my truck 8)

I'm told it's fully functional, it just had a couple wobbly legs. They were happy to see it not go to the landfill.... but I have no idea what to do with it. It has 5 burners and "pots", maybe I can use it to cook up 5 batches of soap at the same time

Any suggestions?

I don't know what to do w/ it, but I would have brought it home too! Nice find!

Hell yeah! there are so many things you could use that for!! Ive worked with those types of steam tables before, just be very careful because the heat tends to not be so evenly dispersed depending on the "pot" structure...(so low and slow is the name of the game...)...

Is it one of those where there are square stainless steel "wells" you can fill with water, and then put in your soup pots or what not...

Or there could be a sort of mesh type thing above the burners... there are a few different styles...

I need to see an aerial photo to really make suggestions, but I definitely think you could make a few batches of soap with that awesome contraption! (and PS ive done that a few times too lol... I have collected a fryer, some huge pots ( like i could fit inside the pots lol...talk about a sauce pot)...

coolest thing was a warmer that you could put trays into... I love old restaurant equipment because its most likely still useable, but they just dont want it sitting around any more once they get new stuff... so its all just kind of luck of the draw! :)

If you decide you can't use it at home you could donate it to a shelter maybe?

Probably flog it on Ebay as I have done many times and if it did not sell I would use it for a herb garden till I think of a good use for it as it will be unaffected by the soil, the weather or the water you put on the plants. Steve :D
