I just tried a recipe of 9.7 oz lye, 1 lb 8 oz water, 2lb 10 oz olive oil, 1lb 5 oz coconut oil, and 4 tbl. castor oil.(and 3 oz. essence oil fragrance)
When I added the fragrance the oil all rose to the top and the bottom start clumping (looks like rice?). Is there any saving this batch?

Where did you get the recipe? The superfat is very low (between 0 and 1 according to SoapCalc, provided I typed the recipe in correctly), even with the castor accounted for.

The amount of water and essential oils you used looks fine, though.

What essential oils did you use, exactly? I ask because some are known to cause problems- such as clove EO and other spice-based EOs.

Riced batches can be saved by rebatching them.

IrishLass :)

Fragrance was from Hobby Lobby. "Something Fabulous"

I looked up the fragrance online, and although it does say that it can be used in soap on the package, I'm wondering to myself, "What kind of soap?". Some fragrances do well in MP soap, but not so well in CP. That's why I like to limit myself to buying my fragrances online from only reputable suppliers whose fragrances have been tested in CP.

Did you try rebatching your soap?

am trying to rebatch but the oils are still floating on top while the solids stay settled on the bottom. Might have to start from scratch. Thanks for the help anyway.
