Another question, I prepared another batch of oil and
realized that I used glycerine instead of castor oil. I didn't make the soap yet I only have the oils mixed. Can I just add castor oil along with the other oils and glycerine? I can't find a sap value for glycerine.

hi there!

i add glycerine to goatsmilk soap, so your're okay there-if you added an ounce of glycerine, subtract one oz of water from your lye soloution to compensate. then add your castor oil to your batch and soap as usual.

it may trace a little slower, but you'll be okay.

i would put a bright sticker on the glycerine bottle so you don't make this error in the future!

if you have a pretty fair superfat % your other soap should be okay. give it a week and do a ZAP test. (lick your soap) if it just tastes like soap then you won't have to rebatch it.

how large of a batch is this? how many oz's of oil? what was your castor %

It was an 18 oz batch. I was suppose to put in 1 oz of castor and instead I put in 1 oz of glycerine. Wasn't sure if I could just add the castor and carry on making the soap.

Thanks for your help
