I made a batch on Thursday morning and it won't set. I checked it after about 36 hours. I let the lye mixture cool to correct temp along with the oil mixture. I mixed until trace appeared. It was a very light trace. Can I heat it all together and let it cool down then put it back it my mold or will it wreck it and will the Lilac scent, I used an EO disappear? Thank you so much for the help. This is my first batch that didn't set up within 24 hours.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago with two batches of soap. I figured out that I had a jar of bad lye. When I switched to lye from another supplier, things went back to normal. You can try cooking the soap to see if it will set up in the mold. If you don't mind, send me a PM with the name of the lye supplier. I am wondering if your lye was from the same supplier as my jar of bad lye.

I hope that helped solve your issue, but I am confused as this is in the M&P forum?

Sorry I guess I don't know my soaps yet. I thought the type of soap I was making was this type

No worries :)

If you are melting a pre-made base then adding fragrance and/or colors then putting it in a mold, that is called Melt & Pour or MP soap. If you are measuring oils, mixing lye and water, adding that to the oils and blending to trace etc, that is Cold Process soap (or it could be Hot Process if you decided to "cook" your soap thru saponification), usually called CP soap.

I once had a recipe that would not set up no matter what I did. It was the only time I used a recipe I found online, never made that mistake again!
