Hello All,

I'm having trouble finding solid information about making body butters and skin creams. There are plenty of recipes floating around the web, but I'd like to find formulas and ratios. Things like solid oil to liquid oil, how much emulsifying wax per ounce, 1 part this to 2 parts that etc.

Thanks!

Percentages might differ from person to person according to what their preferences are, but as for me, I like using a ratio of 70% butter to 30% oil for my body butters.

For lotions, it's a litle bit trickier because it depends on the oils/fats you're using, and how thick or thin you like your lotion/creme to be. A good place to look and glean info from is LotionCrafters:

http://www.lotioncrafter.com/

They have a lot of good info as well as a formulary.

I am also a newbie lotion/butter maker and made my first batch the other day with great success!

I too found lots of different recipes on the net, all with different quantities, varying units of measurement, obscure ingredients, confusing or conflicting instructions etc etc. I ended up using this one: http://www.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au/Beginners-Moisture-Cream-p-101.html and it turned out perfect! The best thing is they give you each ingredient in both weight and percentage, and they also give very well laid out instructions. So it comes highly recommended by me

Here is the link to all their Moisturiser, Lotion & Balm recipes: http://www.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au/Moisturiser-Lotion-Balm-Recipes-p-194.html with their Tutorial at the top of the list which is definitely worth reading.

Hope that helps! :D
