How much peppermint essential oil would I use for one pound of clear melt and pour and one pound shea butter melt and pour. This will be my first time making m&p. Also could you put dried apricot seeds in soap to make it a scrub soap.
Thanks
donna

Peppermint EO can be very strong and if too much is used can be irritating to the skin. I've only used it in HP and I used .5 oz ppo. I doubt you'd want to use that high of amount in MP. That being said, Brambleberry has a really nice fragrance calculator which gives recommended amounts for both EOs and FOs in lotions, CP, MP, etc. http://www.brambleberry.com/Pages/Fragr ... lator.aspx

I've used apricot seeds only once in a CP batch and I don't remember know how much I used. However, don't be fooled by their tiny size. You don't need a large amount to provide scrubbiness. I think the recommended amount is to use 1-2 teaspoons per pound but you might have to experiment to see what you prefer. I don't find apricot seeds as abrasive as strawberry seeds so I would probably add closer to 2 teaspoons. This is just a suggestion but you could add one teaspoon, stir and then see how spread out they are in the soap. If you think you want more, then just add 1/2 teaspoon and stir again. It's very easy to add too many seeds. But at least they're not as rough as strawberry seeds (my batches with these seeds were like lethal weapons in the shower - very painful  ).

I'm not an expert in using EOs or adding seeds to soap so you might want to wait to hear other people's advice. :D

Hazel... I'm reading a page-turner where the bad guy (ok... the REALLY bad, bad guy) uses sandpaper and alcohol to get information from people he needs information from. Sounds like your strawberry seed soap mixture should be kept secret...lol.

Ooh! I never thought of using it as an interrogation method. No one will be able to resist giving me answers to my questions. Thanks for the idea!
