ok, so this was my first cold process soap attempt. i used a recipe for soap using palm oil, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, water, and lye. i did everything i was supposed to do, but then i added peppermint essential oil, ground whole oats (from cereal aisle) and dried peppermint leaves (from a tea bag). things seemed to be going well, but.....

as the soap sits and cures, it looks like it has green spots seeping through the soap (around the specks of peppermint leaves). i tried to wipe it off with a paper towel, but it did not come off. i am hoping this is just color or oil getting sucked out of the peppermint leaves. my biggest fear is that this is mold. (but i think, wouldn't mold wipe off?)

so, please let me know if you have any inslight on this.
thank you!

Ali

Here's a pics of one that I did with peppermint leaves & chamomile leaves (also from a peppermint tea). It's not mold on mine, just the natural color leeching out of the leaves.

your soap is fine-it's just the herbs-they will eventually get browner and dull-out. great pic!

good job on your soap too!!! congrats!!!!

This thread has the link to Digit's method of using leaves without browning.

This is the link to BEAUTIFUL results.
