Hi, I'm contemplating CP soap making and need to know basics. Wats a lye calculator? Wats superfat? I've heard that the gel stage results in a soap with a rind on one site and another says that's a crucial step.. Pls help.. I need to know all little details coz I want my first batch to be perfect. My family is rather unsupportive of this venture into soap making and I want to impress and persuade them. Thanx a lot..

+1 The site is www.millersoap.com I started there and it will answer all of your basic soap questions. You might also want to try Alicia Grosso's The Everything Soap Book.
