Hello, my names Gary, and I live in southern Idaho. I just attempted my first batch of soap yesterday, and failed lol. The batch never came to trace. I have posted a thread in the CP forum. Hope to find out what I did wrong, and if I can save these materials. There was 8lbs of oil there

Hi Gary,

Welcome to the forum! :D

8 lbs is a lot to start with on your first batch. I hope you can save it.

Thanks for the welcome!
I know :/ I was nervous about cutting the recipe in half, and I couldn't figure out a mold the right size. Didn't want to come out with weird shaped bars. I wasn't worried about too much soap, because I have a store that will buy it from me already. (pretty lucky considering I haven't produced anything yet lol). If I do lose it, it was only $20 in materials. Not a huge loss, but I def. want to save it.

Thanks for the welcome soapbuddy! I'm surprised at how fast people respond to posts on here. Very friendly place :D [/quote]

If you have a rectangular mold multiply length X width X height then multiply all of it by 0.4. That will give you an idea how much the mold will hold.

Awesome, thanks! Is that to make about 1 inch thick rectangular bars?

You can make the thickness anything you like. This formula doesn't take into account how thick the bars are; only the size of your mold.

Welcome to the forum.

If you are considering selling your soap, it's probably best to get more experience first.
