Hello from Washington (State, not D.C.)

I'm so happy that I found a good forum for soapmaking! My husband and I took a class at a local soap shop, and we're now obsessed. I'm really hoping that we can start selling soon! I'm 38, and I have 2 kids. My son is starting kindergarten and turning 6 on the 11th, and my daughter is 3, turning 4 at the end of October. My husband is retired Army, and I'm also an Army brat and grew up mostly in Germany (9 years total). I love that soapmaking combines science with art. I'm excited to learn here!

Welcome, please read our Sticky re selling, we discourage that here as a newbie. You should leave it at least 1 year or more for trial and testing, it's not a matter of let's make soap and start selling. Also if you plan to make a living out of it, I'd think twice. Lot's to learn here, just start reading in the beginners forum, most of your questions will be answered there.

I did read the sticky.

We've been doing it for more than a year. Not looking to make this our main source of income or anything, just a nice little side thing for me to do since I'm primarily a stay at home mom.

I just know there's always more to learn!

Selling soap is very time consuming, becomes quite costly and it would not be very easy with kidlets, but a very fun hobby. A part time job will pay more and take much less time. Making the soap is the easy part selling it is becoming close to impossible due to a very saturated market.
