I make cold process. I've been wanting to do this for years but I was too chicken to try it on my own. So when I had the good fortune of finding a soap making class in my area, I jumped on it. Made my first batch on Christmas Eve and it turned out so well! I literally think about soap everyday. Thanks guys for the warm welcome!

You're so lucky to have found a class. There isn't any soap related activities near where I live. I kept reading books and posts on the forum until I got up the nerve to try it. Of course, I had a lot of help from people on this forum. I doubt I would have started if they hadn't been encouraging me.

I know! I had been searching online for an eternity when I finally came across that class. I thought it was too good to be true! The class took the fear factor out of my quest to learn soapmaking.

How does your first batch feel? Does it have nice lather? Most importantly, are you planning your next batch?
Hi Hazel! My first batch was a dream. The bars had a really nice texture or "grain" and the lather was pretty standard. I would say it's kind of creamy. The scent was lacking though because I was really stingy with the essential oils. (A jasmine and sandalwood blend) I guess I was afraid of them smelling too strong. I'll post photos in the gallery. I'll be making some more soap this week!

I know this is extremely old but where was that class you took?? I can't find any thanks!
