Hello Everyone! Okay, I have been a tad bad and lurked for awhile. I got into making soap out of need. I had a bad reaction from a handmade soap and I thought perhaps it was from an ingredient so I would need to go through all their soaps to find the right one for me. This is going to cost me a fortune I thought. I know, I'll make my own soap. Oh, that worked out waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper in the long rung

There was no "Warning, Do Not Start. highly Additive"

I just started to play with FO's, colours and that there fancy stuff. I am
now doing a happy dance!

At least I learned how to make laundry soap which saves me a fortune.
I stopped smokin in November, more money saved.
So now I'm really soapin.

Really enjoy the forum and looking forward to participating.

Hello and welcome! There's nothing wrong with lurking. I do it all the time.

I know what you mean. I started to make soap because I thought it would save me money instead of buying it. Silly me.

What were the ingredients in the soap which gave you a bad reaction? Also, congratulations on stopping smoking!

Thanks Hazel.

I've been trying to quit for many Blue Moons. I got a type of lung infection and I haven't been able to inhale since last year. I think I've done it this time besides, fingers crossed.

Anywho. I discovered not to use Lemongrass EO. Through the process of soap making I discovered the CO % factor very quickly!!! My skin doesn't like Palm Oil. The 2nd soap I tried had an ingredient I've never heard of or have come accross in 9 months of research. I'd love to give you the name but my DH saw the back of my hands turn raw instantly, and stated "no more experimenting with op's soaps". He disposed of soap and label in the trash.

Double whammy, I have reactions to the chlorine levels in our water too so it's really hard to pin point some ingredients.

Although my Salt bars have 80% CO I think the salt is what helps in the bath.

Welcome! Lots of knowledge and experience to tap into on this site so you are in good hands. :)
Congrats on the quitting smoking!

I'm sorry to hear you were sick but at least it led to a positive result. At least, you did figure out what was irritating your skin. Was it well-known soap? If so, I could google and look at it.

Other people have mentioned salt helps their skin. I like salt bars just because they make my skin feel so soft.

The reactions from the EO and CO came from a large soap company but I'm sure it's all my condition.

The worst reaction was from a bar from a small soap co. that I bought in a health food store in another city. Next time I go there I'm going to check to see if they still sell the product.

I was trying to be a supportive homemade soaper. Bad reaction won't stop me, onward!!!!
