Hello All,

I'll be lurking on this forum and gathering information in preparation for my first batch of CP soap ever! I've got my lye and oils--I'm very nearly ready. Only dependable equipment and some sage advice are needed yet before I dive headfirst into the wonderful world of soap making.

For the first batch I'd like to do "Monkey Tail": a dark chocolate and banana marble. Any thoughts on incorporating real banana into the mix? I was thinking of pureeing the banana with some coconut milk powder and water, freezing it, and then adding the lye. Any success/horror stories to pass on regarding using real fruit in soap?

Hello and welcome! I'm way excited for you with your first batch and wow are you ever brave! I can't help you with the fruit part as I have only done a strawberry batch so not nearly an expert on that one. Maybe ask this question in the CP Soap Forum so everyone sees it and can help you out.

Cheers
Lindy

Hello and welcome from Australia! I think you are brave too with such a complex first soap.....still, nothing ventured nothing gained!

I only ever add water or aloe juice to my lye - everything else I add either blended into my oils before the lye mix is added, or at very light trace. For your recipe I would puree the banana with the CO milk but add it at light trace - sugars (like in milk and fruit) can easily burn when lye is added to them so I play it safe

Tanya :)
